- 01 – Uniform Civil Code (UCC): The “Uniform Civil Code” came into effect on 27 January 2025. Uttarakhand is the first state in India to do so. Now, uniform laws are applicable in all religions matters such as marriage, divorce, maintenance, and inheritance. This aims to curb social evils like child marriage, polygamy, and arbitrary divorce. The UCC also mandates compulsory registration of live-in relationships.
- 02 – Strict Land Law: To prevent the misuse of agricultural and horticultural land, the state government has implemented a strict land law—Uttarakhand (Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Act, 1950) (Amendment) Act, 2025. The law prohibits people from other states purchasing agricultural and horticultural land in 11 hill districts.
- 03 – 30% Horizontal Reservation for Women: To increase women participation in government services, the state government has been providing 30% horizontal reservation to women of Uttarakhand in government jobs. For this, the Uttarakhand Public Service (Horizontal Reservation for Women) Act, 2023 , provides for this reservation paving way for women empowerment.
- 04 – Strictness Against Forced Religious Conversion: To curb incidents of forced religious conversions, the state government has implemented the “Uttarakhand Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2022”. Under this law, those found guilty may face up to 10 years of imprisonment.
- 05 – Anti-Cheating Law: To eliminate the possibility of cheating in government recruitments and ensure transparency, the state government has enforced the “Prevention and Remedies Against Unfair Means in Recruitment Act – 2023″. Under this law, those found guilty may face up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to ₹10 lakhs.
- 06 – Strict Action Against Rioters: To penalize those who damage public and private property during riots, the government has implemented the “Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery Act, 2024”. The law aims to deter such behaviour tendencies during riots and protests.
- 07 – Horizontal Reservation for Statehood Activists: The law provides reservation for Activists and their dependents who have contributed to the formation of the state of Uttarakhand are being given 10% horizontal reservation in government jobs. The government has enacted the Uttarakhand State Movement Recognized Activists or their Dependents Reservation in State Services Act.
- 08 – Global Investors Summit 2023: To promote industries and generate employment, Global Investors Summit was held in Dehradun in December 2023. Investment proposals worth over ₹3.50 lakh crore were received, out of which, proposals worth ₹1 lakh crore have already been materialized.
- 09 – G-20 Summit: In 2023, Uttarakhand had the opportunity to host the Infrastructure Working Group meeting as part of the G-20 summit. Myriad events were held in Narendra Nagar, Rishikesh and Ramnagar seeing participation from international delegates.
- 10 – 38th National Games: The 38th National Game was hosted in Uttarakhand in January–February 2025 for the first time. The event received widespread praise across the country. The athletes from Uttarakhand won a record 103 medals, securing 7th position in the medal tally.
- 11 – International Diaspora Conference: To reconnect Non-Residents of Uttarakhand with their roots, the state government organized the first ever International Diaspora Conference on January 12, 2025 in Dehradun where participants expressed their commitment to invest and contribute to the development of Uttarakhand.
- 12 – World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo-2024: A grand four-day event , 10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo was held in Dehradun in between 12th dec to 15th dec 2024. The representatives from 50 countries and more than 6,000 experts participated in the event where more than 250 AYUSH-based stalls were exhibited.
- 13 – Ropeway and Rail Projects: Rail and ropeway projects are progressing rapidly in Uttarakhand. The Rishikesh-Karnprayag railway line is nearing completion, while the Gaurikund–Kedarnath and Govindghat–Hemkund Sahib ropeway projects have been approved by the central government.
- 14 – Women Empowerment: Under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, interest-free loans of up to ₹5 lakhs are being provided to women self-help groups. So far, one lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’ have crossed the bench mark set for the scheme. The government is also providing 33% reservation for women in cooperative societies.
- 15 – First Rank in SDG Index: In the NITI Aayog SDG Index 2023–24, Uttarakhand ranked first in the country for meeting Sustainable Development Goals. According to the report, Uttarakhand scored 79 points surpassing states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.
- 16 – Tourism and Pilgrimage: The state government is promoting char dham yatra during winter when the sites are closed. To promote an increase in tourist influx, large-scale pilgrimage programmes are also being organised starting from December 2024. Under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission 48 temples in Kumaon region are being connected in one circuit.
- 17 – Air and Helicopter Services: The government is connecting hilly areas with major cities through helicopter services. Services are being operated from Dehradun-Sahastradhara helipad to Gaurikund, Chinyalisaur and from Haldwani to Champawat, Pithoragarh, Munsyari. Several heliports have also been completed. Regular air services are now available from Dehradun, Pantnagar, and Pithoragarh.
- 18 – House of Himalayas: Under the Rural Development Department, “House of Himalayas” is a common brand for products made by women SHGs, farmers, FPOs, and rural entrepreneurs of Uttarakhand. It was launched by PM Shri Narendra Modi during the Global Investors Summit in Dehradun. The brand includes 36 products across eight categories.
- 19 – Health Services: Under the Atal Ayushman Yojana, by the end of April 2025, over 15 lakh cardholders have received free treatment in enlisted hospitals. A total of 59.74 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued. The scheme provides up to ₹5 lakh of free treatment each family annually.
- 20 – Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme: Under this scheme, the goal is to produce 250 megawatts of solar energy. A total of 1378 projects have been allotted, out of which 167 projects with 30 MW capacity have already started electricity production.
- 21 – Water Conservation: To conserve rivers, springs, and other water sources, the “Springs and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA)” has been established. Under this, rejuvenation of 5,428 water sources and 228 rivers is underway. The Jamrani Multipurpose Dam Project has also been approved by the central government.
- 22 – Transport: The four-part Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is nearing completion. A 12 km elevated road from Ganeshpur (UP) to Asharodi (Dehradun) and a 340-meter-long tunnel near Datkali Temple have been completed. Once operational, the expressway will reduce Delhi-Dehradun distance to 208 km, which can be covered in just 2.5 hours. The central government has also granted Uttarakhand with two Vande Bharat trains.
- 23 – Film Policy: Under the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024, film production and shooting is being promoted to generate employment. Films in local languages like Kumaoni, Garhwali and Jaunsari are being encouraged with up to 50% of cost or a maximum subsidy of ₹2 crores.
- 24 – Administrative Reforms: As part of administrative reforms, the state has launched ‘Corruption-Free App-1064’ and ‘Chief Minister’s Helpline-1905’. Additionally, 923 services are available online through the ‘Apuni Sarkar’ portal. All land records have also been digitized.
